The Politics of Ecstasy

The Politics of Ecstasy is a book by Timothy Leary. I haven’t read it so I can’t comment on it. It is also the name of a song and album by Nevermore. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevermore for the 411.

Ideologically, I suppose I am libertarian on social matters. It’s not the government’s place to tell you what to do in the bedroom or with your mind and body. However, those arguing against decriminalization have one really strong point: it would be irresponsible to let people have the keys to their own self destruction.

“Freedom’s never free, the politics of ecstasy are these:
Freedom’s never free, the politics of ecstasy are these:
If you take a step back and you realize your home can’t be a perfect world
There’s still hope the hate you fell will fade, injustice is gone:
Injustice is gone for a little while”
